Voices of Our Grantees

Lives Transformed, Communities Inspired
Behind every grant is a story of hope and growth. Our grantees share how support has opened new doors, empowered their journeys, and inspired their communities. These voices reflect the true impact of our mission.
One of the greatest challenges during my research was the financial burden.

The Yang Won Sun Foundation scholarship eased this burden and allowed me to focus fully on my academic work.

After graduating, I began working as a Korean language professor at a university in Indonesia. Drawing on my doctoral research, I plan to teach students about the differences between Indonesian and Korean and natural Korean expressions in ways that are engaging and practically useful.

At Art Basel, I got to see in person the latest works of artists I had long followed, as well as works rarely shown at Korean art fairs. It was also good to talk about work with fellow Korean artists of my generation, and interesting to hear from the patrons who support them.

ㅡ Participant, Art Basel Hong Kong Visiting Program (Fine Arts Student, Korea)

As a museum studies fresh graduate who plans to further develop on curator track, this programme offers me a unique opportunity to build connections with Korean, Hong Kong, and international emerging artists. Through this programme, I also learnt much more curatorial strategies through multiple institutional visits, which is beneficial to my professional growth.

《Kim Chong Hak, Painter of Seoraksan》reflects the High’s ongoing commitment to fostering cultural exchange by inviting American audiences to experience Korean art traditions for visitors of all ages.

By introducing the High’s surrounding community to one of Korea’s most significant modern painters, the exhibition deepened public understanding of Korean history, aesthetics, and creative practice, while strengthening connections with Atlanta’s Korean and Korean American communities.

The High is grateful for the Yang Won Sun Foundation and its support toward making this exhibition possible.
